2/4/15 – Making Connections

It was fun to kick off the first week of our Just Walk Across the Room series at Summit! I am hearing some great feedback about the series from people at church and those who attended a Growth Group on Monday or Tuesday.

If you weren’t able to join us on Sunday, I want to encourage you to check out the video message online. During the month of February we want everyone (adults, youth and kids) to be a part of this experience together!

In addition to Sunday worship, I hope that you will connect in one of our 33 Growth Groups happening throughout the week. It’s not too late to join or invite a friend! Explore group options online & contact Kori Fine (our Growth Group Director) at 623-764-1230 or kori@summitcc.org.

Just Walk Across the Room
As of this morning we have 343 adults and youth signed up for a group (our highest number yet). That is really exciting, because Jesus placed a high value on relationships and growing together in faith. We believe that life change happens best in groups!

The early church gathered both for worship (in the temple) and in homes on a regular basis:

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47)

If you have not been in a group before, I want to encourage you to give one a try. You don’t have to be a Bible expert or have all the answers. They are a safe place to meet some new friends and learn how the Bible applies in everyday life. Many people have shared with me they only wish they had joined a group sooner!

The goal of this series is to help us “just walk across the room” by making connections with people who don’t yet know Jesus. I believe that if each of us will trust God and respond to the opportunities He provides… we would see many lives changed in 2015!

Our youth and children’s ministry will be focusing on the same theme (with curriculum designed for their age level). Contact Mike Weniger (mike@summitcc.org) to help students get connected with a Growth Group options on these days:

Sundays @ 6pm – Middle School
Tuesdays @ 7pm – High School
Fridays @ 6:30pm – Both Middle & High School

It is going to be a great year! Come join us this Sunday and participate however you can.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Nate

P.S. Please keep praying with me for our Executive Pastor candidate and his family. Pastor Vince Parks is deciding if God is calling him here to Summit (or he should remain at his current church in Houston). He’s praying about where he could make the biggest impact in God’s kingdom, and we hope to hear from him next week.
