2/11/15 – Executive Pastor Decision

Today we received some incredible news. After a month of prayerful deliberation, Vince Parks has accepted the call to serve as Summit’s Executive Pastor!

I am very excited about the opportunity to have him join our church and ministry team. It was with an eye toward the future that we chose to add an Executive Pastor. The Lord clearly led our search team (and Vince) in this process, so it will be fun to see what He has in store!

Please join me in praying for Pastor Vince, Marianna, Matthew, Collin and Kathleen Parks as they embrace this new adventure. It will be a time of transition for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Houston, TX (where Vince currently serves as Executive Pastor). Please keep that church in your prayers as they also plan for the future.

We need to work out the onboarding details, so we’ll let you know later when they will join us here at Summit!

Mexico Mission Team

Early Friday morning 110+ people from Summit will travel to build 3 homes in Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) with Amor Ministries. Please pray for the team as they serve the Lord by providing a simple home and new future to three different families.

It’s impactful for the recipients; it is also life-changing for many who participate. Ryan Jimison, our Worship Arts Director, reminded me today that this team is larger than Summit when we arrived. In our “Year of Changed Lives,” I can’t wait to hear some God stories that happen during this mission trip!

Just Walk Across the Room

This church-wide series is off to a great start, and I hope that you will join us this Sunday. If you missed a previous message, you can watch those online. There will be some additional copies of the “Just Walk Across the Room” book available at the welcome center, or you can order your copy on Amazon. This week I’d encourage you to read through chapter 5 if you haven’t already.

We are already hearing people use “just walk across the room” language. I love it! 1 Peter 3:15 teaches us to “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” This series is a perfect way to figure out how to do that in a natural way.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Nate
