Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the church going to be located?

Summit Community Church purchased 7.1 acres of property on the SW corner of Indian School Rd. and Sunrise Rd. in December 2008.   Click here for our most recent update.

We currently worship at Verrado High School, in the Auditorium, located at 20050 W. Indian School Road, Buckeye, AZ 85396

Why the name “Summit Community?”

The name Summit gives a picture of security, of permanence, and of a height of experience. In Christ, we celebrate all of these. The Summit is where we receive our strength and guidance (Psalm 121) and where we learn to work and grow together as we journey through life.

Why only one style of worship? Why not have both traditional and contemporary?

We believe God desires a focused ministry for our church. By doing one style and doing it with excellence, we focus our best energy sharing God's timeless truth in ways that speak to today's culture.  There are other local churches (Lutheran and other) that offer the traditional and blended style of worship.

Why do the children leave before the message?

We are firm believers that families should worship together. Therefore, the children are involved in the praise and worship time before the message and then have the opportunity to experience a teaching that meets their needs and maturity level.

Why is there no Sunday Morning Bible class for Adults?

If you look at the adults that stay for Bible Classes on a Sunday, the percentage is small. That is why we’ve enhanced the message during the service to give people an in-depth Bible study with application points for everyday life.  Our Growth Groups that meet throughout the community are the place to go deeper and apply God's Word in everyday life.  We also believe that hosting these groups in local homes reinforces the fact that we are called to reach beyond our church walls.

What if I don’t want to be involved in a growth group?

No one is going to ‘twist your arm’ to be in a growth group. However, we believe that life-change happens best in the context of a growth group. Because we are growing and will be a large church, the growth group ministry is essential for faith growth, opportunities for care and personal fulfillment.

Is the church connected to a denomination?

Yes. Our church is first and foremost Christian. Secondly, our church is an active member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (www.lcms.org)
