12/3/15 – Help a Homeless Youth

I can’t wait for this weekend! I hope you can join us for worship and be a part of our Joy of Giving Sunday.

For the past couple weeks, people have been taking home tags from our Christmas tree to support the Homeless Youth Connection, Buckeye Superheroes and All Faith Community Services. This Sunday is the deadline to bring them back to church.

If you didn’t pick up a tag, it’s not too late to participate! Simply bring to church some non-perishable food, diapers or unwrapped toys to help bless local families this year.

As I preached a couple weeks ago in this ALL IN series, one of our core values is Community Engagement. What a perfect way for our church to put that into action as we generously give to bless our West Valley neighbors this Christmas season.

God’s Word teaches us, “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord–and he will repay you.” (Proverbs 19:17) As God’s people, let’s help to lead the way in this Joy of Giving community initiative.

Summit ALL IN Chip

This will be the final week for the ALL IN sermon series, so we also have a special gift for you this Sunday. You’ll receive a Summit poker chip with our mission statement (the team did an awesome job designing it)! We hope it will be a great reminder for us to pray for our church and keep going “all in” for the sake of God’s kingdom.

See You Sunday,

Pastor Nate

P.S. This week’s shooting in San Bernardino hit home for me in a personal way. One of the 14 people killed was a part of my church youth group when I was in high school. Please join me in praying for the families who have lost loved ones and for those who were injured. We certainly live in a sinful and broken world!

This Advent season is a time when the church around the world looks forward to Christmas and longs for Jesus to return. At his second coming we will finally see perfect peace and justice. Until that day, let’s remember the promise of our Savior, Jesus:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!  I have overcome this world.” (John 16:33)
